From UK agent to European operation
Kahlenberg UK reported in 2011 that its new European distribution business built on the success of sister company du Pré Marine after du Pré Marine became a Kahlenberg agent in 2009.
The source describes a business created to handle European distribution while du Pré Marine continued to serve UK companies and end users.
The new company was appointed to distribute Kahlenberg’s marine and industrial sound signals, controls, air compressors and accessories across Europe apart from Italy. du Pré Marine was to continue serving UK users of the manufacturer’s IMO-approved air and electric horns, controllers, compressors and related equipment.
Building support around the products
Contemporary industry coverage says the dedicated operation followed a year of du Pré Marine selling to and supporting owners, boatbuilders, shipyards and vessel managers. It was based at the group’s Berkshire headquarters and used existing marketing, administration and stockholding resources.
Popular models and common spares could be supplied from stock for customers ranging from small leisure craft to vessels longer than 200 metres. A direct telephone link with the US manufacturer was also established, while Kahlenberg described the European base as a way to strengthen factory-backed sales and support for leisure, commercial and naval customers.
Historical evidence, not a current Australian claim
This story is included as evidence of the wider company’s history in building specialist manufacturer relationships. It does not assert a present Kahlenberg appointment or partnership for du Pré Marine Australia.
